Nikki Villavicencio the Next Maplewood City Council
Hello my name is Nikki Villavicencio and I am here to announce my candidacy for Maplewood City Council. Healthy families, strong businesses and regional leadership is the vision I share with my neighbors.
My vision is to engage all of Maplewood, where they are at.
•Maplewood is working hard to build a great foundation of strong businesses and as a Maplewood City Council member I will work to ensure that all businesses will be heard and their employees valued.
•As a first ring suburb, ensuring healthy families is an essential part of continuing the strength of Maplewood. As a mother and as a Kid City Advisor, it is important to me that children are given the tools to be healthy and engaged in their community.
•Maplewood's strength will grow when we lead the region by example. As a Parks and Recreation Commissioner and as a Parks Tasks Force Member, I supported the 20 year Master Parks Plan, which included Minnesota's only dedicated Tuj Lube court and 2 Park Playgrounds with Universal Design features.
Living in Maplewood has given me a quality of life I never could have dreamed of as a child. Raising my daughter Alexandria here, allows my partner Darrell and I to have long adventures through the Bruce Vento Trail together. It allows me to teach my daughter to appreciate small businesses that go the extra mile for the community. It allows my whole family to be more connected to other families through playing Minnesota’s only dedicated Tuj Lube Court.
As February approaches, I am reminded of the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., when he said, “This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy.” That is the reason I’m here today. The time is now for our communities to move forward, to elect people who will make real on the promises of democracy, by being true representatives of the community.
That is why I, not only ask you to support me for Maplewood City Council, I ask of all my neighbors to join me on February 6th at the Precinct Caucuses. Precinct Caucuses are a great way for all of us to have a close connection to the people we elect. We may not have all the answers individually, but together we have it all!
Lastly, won’t you dbe my neighbor!? Any questions??
